Are You Setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals?

Hi, it’s Jeff with Health and Fitness. I want to talk to you today about goals. We believe that in order to be best successful, your goals should be S.M.A.R.T. and in this case S.M.A.R.T. refers to Sustainable, Motivating, Accountable, Rewarding and Transforming.

A Sustainable goal is simply a larger goal broken down into smaller pieces. Instead of keeping just the end result in mind, establish some smaller more sustainable goals along the way to keep you at the process.

Motivating—some people have internal motivation, some people require some outside motivation. Whatever that is that keeps you motivated, implement that as often as you need to. Whether it’s a class reunion, whether it’s fitting into a particular dress that you’ve purchased, whatever it is that keeps you motivated—use it.

Accountability—lot’s of people would require outside accountability. Whether it’s friends. Whether it’s family, nothing wrong with that and it’s probably a good idea to keep you on track.

Rewarding—what will you use to reward yourself along the way? It could be a long process. In order to stay at it establish some rewards along the way to keep you involved and to keep you motivated.

And finally Transforming— not only would be transforming physically but in the bigger picture how will your life be different. How will your life be better? How will you be as a transformed individual? Whatever the case may be, whatever the goal is—set the goal and make it S.M.A.R.T.!

Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.
